Pressure systems are unforgiving. A joint that “usually holds” is not good enough when you are proving integrity, preparing for inspection, or putting plant back into service after repairs. You need a test that is controlled, repeatable, and properly recorded.

Hydrostatic pressure testing and hydraulic testing
Hydrostatic pressure testing is the workhorse of pressure integrity testing. It is also one of the cleanest ways to remove doubt after repairs, alterations, or component replacement. When the aim is pressure proving, the method matters. Controlled fill, correct venting, stable test pressure, and clear hold times tell you far more than “it did not leak when we looked at it”. Hydrostatic and hydraulic testing can be carried out across common plant assets, including:
- Line testing on pipework runs and modified sections
- Shell and vessel testing where vessels or associated pipework need proving
- Valve body pressure testing after overhaul or repair
- Wider plant pressure tests after planned works
On-site pressure testing
A lot of pressure work cannot be carried back to a bench. It lives in the plant room, tied into production, with access limits and isolation points that were not designed for convenience. This is where on-site pressure testing and in-situ testing earn their keep.
We carry out plant room pressure testing and boiler house pressure testing in a controlled way, working around your site constraints. If you need an out-of-hours window, or you need to keep part of the system running, we plan the test around that reality.
PSSR works and site certification support
Pressure system compliance is not just about the hardware. It is also about evidence. We support PSSR works and site certification support when testing is needed as part of inspection preparation, repair validation, or system reinstatement.
If you are operating under a written scheme of examination, the goal is straightforward: your system is safe to operate and the supporting records are clear.
Workshop pressure testing and valve testing
Some components are better handled off the system. Workshop work is often faster, cleaner, and easier to control, especially when you are dealing with individual items that can be removed and tested as standalone assets.
We provide workshop pressure testing and valve testing where the job suits a controlled environment. This commonly includes valve body pressure testing following overhaul or repair, and pressure proving of components before they go back into service.
If the workshop test highlights a fault, it is easier to fix it there than after it is reinstalled.
Pressure gauge testing and calibration
A pressure test is only as good as the instruments used to measure it. Gauges drift. Gauges get knocked. Gauges get left on vibrating pipework for years. Eventually, someone realises the readings do not add up. We provide pressure gauge testing and pressure gauge calibration as part of our calibration services, including:
- Pressure gauge certification where documentation is required
- Gauge recalibration and gauge proving
- Gauge replacement where the instrument is unreliable or unsuitable
- Supply of certified pressure gauges where a documented gauge is needed for the job

How to prepare for a pressure test?
Small details make pressure tests smoother. Isolation points that actually isolate. Vents that let you remove trapped air. Drain points that do not empty into the worst corner of the plant room. Access to the areas that matter. If you are planning a pressure test, it helps to know:
- What section needs proving (and why)
- What can be isolated without affecting production
- Whether the system can be filled and vented properly
- Whether the test is component-only or part of a wider plant pressure test
